As the snow melts and Spring begins to take hold, the regions backcountry gems regain their access. Take a day trip to Halfway Hot Springs and enjoy the spectacular views along this rieverside natural hot spring. Looking for something eclectic? Steps away from this hot spring, is a fully accessible trail that leads to an impressive timber frame bridge that overlooks Kuskanax Creek. The local trails are looking great this spring, both Box Lake and Mt Abriel have had early trail maintenance. New trails are being built all year by the NABS crew, be respectful of all closures in the area. The Mt Abriel trail network has a little something for everyone, from beginner and adaptive trails, to flow and downhill. Coming 2019 a brand-new bike skills park.
Spring is the best time of year for short hikes to the region’s spectacular waterfalls. Take a break along the highway North of Nakusp and see Ione Falls or Gardner Creek Falls on the way up to Nakusp Hot Springs.
